THREEFOLD FUNCTIONS OF THE CHURCH
First: Save lost souls
“Yeshua came to seek and to save the lost souls.” (Luke 19:10)
“And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:47)
There is more rejoicing in heaven over one lost soul that repents rather than 99 making a joyful noise.” (Luke 15:7,10)
“Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover over a multitude of sins.” (James 5:20)
“What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt. 16:26)
Second: Equipping and Perfecting of the saints (soul savers)
“And he gave, apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ.” (Eph 4:11-12)
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also.” (2 Tim 2:2)
Third: To Send forth
Yeshua said to his disciples, “Peace be unto you, as the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” (John 20:21)
Yeshua said to his disciples, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.” (Matt 28:18-20)
A church should be evaluated not based on how many that come to it, rather how many that are sent out to make disciples.
