SACRIFICE LINKAGES
1. Worship
in the OT: Abraham worshipped God with a sacrifice
of ram. “Stay here with
the donkey,” Abraham told his servants, “The boy and I will go over there to worship,
and then we will return to you.” (Genesis
22:5)
2. Worship
in the NT: Offering our bodies for his service
is worship. I appeal to you
therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a
living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual
worship.” (Romans 12:1)
3. Healing
of the Land: Solomon offered 120,000 sheep and
22,000 oxen. Then God said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a House of Sacrifice. If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble
themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I
will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
(2 Chronicle 7:5,12; 14)
4. Evangelizing
an Empire: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego offered
themselves as sacrifice in the fire and the Emperor Nebuchadnezzar passed an
edict that every citizen of his empire must worship the God of these Jewish
young men. (Daniel 3:16-30)
5. Samuel
offered a sacrifice and anointed a shepherd
boy David, as future king over Israel.
6. Elijah
offered a sacrifice and fought a spiritual warfare demolishing the entire practitioners of occult. (1Samuel 16:5,13)
7. Elisha
sacrificed his own oxen and plow and a major
prophet of Israel.
8. Gideon
built an altar and called it Jehovah Shalom and
defeated the combined army of Amalekites and Midianites with just 300 men armed
with earthen pots and fire. Judges (Chaps 6-7)
9. Israel
offered sacrifice morning and evening for
corporate worship at the Tabernacle and God talked to them. (Exodus 29:42)
10. Jesus has chosen you bring
forth abundant fruit, then only he will give what you ask. (John 15:16)
11. And this is how God is glorified when
you bring abundant fruit and then you will be His disciple. I(John 15:8)
12. A man shall be known (judged) by
his fruits (souls saved).
13. He who turns back the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from
death and shall hide a multitude of sins. (James
5:20)
14. As a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so
that the Gentiles might become an acceptable offering (living
sacrifice) to God,
sanctified by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:16)
15. Behold the Lamb of God who took away our
sins by being offered as a sacrifice on the cross. And we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of
the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (John
1:29)
