Blessed in the New Year: Ten Blessings That Teach Us to Walk with Christ

A new year is a new page. It is a time to pause and consider the purpose God has called us to. When Jesus said “blessed are” in the Sermon on the Mount, he was not speaking of passing feelings. He was describing the people who live in his kingdom. Let us reflect on these ten blessings for the year ahead.

1. Blessed are those who have become fishers of people.
Being a devoted follower of Jesus is not enough. He wants us to be fishers who draw people toward Christ. (Matthew 4:19)

2. Blessed are those who seek the lost sheep.
Those who have wandered away need to be found and brought to salvation. Jesus himself came to seek and save the lost. (Luke 19:10; John 10:16)

3. Blessed are those who sow seed in the fields.
Earning a living is not all there is. Where the gospel has not reached, sowing the seed and reaping a harvest of souls is our calling. (John 4:35; Matthew 13:8)

4. Blessed are those who are laden with fruit.
Leaves are for show, but fruit is the evidence of life. A life that remains in Christ bears fruit. (John 15:1-8)

5. Blessed are those who become living sacrifices.
Songs of celebration are good, but God desires that we offer our whole lives as living sacrifices. (1 Peter 2:5; Romans 15:16)

6. Blessed are those who are not lukewarm.
We are a royal priesthood. Where Christ has not yet been known, it is our privilege to make disciples and establish God’s kingdom. (1 Peter 2:9; Romans 15:19-20)

7. Blessed are those who are not ashamed or afraid to witness.
Speaking of Jesus before our relatives, friends, and colleagues can be hard, but the Holy Spirit gives us the power to do it. (Acts 1:8)

8. Blessed are those whose homes are open for prayer.
God’s house is meant to be a house of prayer for all nations. May our homes also be places where everyone has a place. (Mark 11:17)

9. Blessed are those who give cheerfully.
For those who are working in the harvest among other nations, a gift given with joy is pleasing to God. (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

10. Blessed are those who make disciples.
Preaching alone is not enough. We are called to make disciples, baptize, and teach them to make disciples as well. This is true multiplication. (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Timothy 2:2)

Three Actions for the New Year

1. This week, invite a family or a person into your home for a meal or tea.
2. Write down the name of one relative, friend, or colleague you will pray for every day.
3. Consider holding a prayer gathering in your home once a month.

Prayer,

Lord, in this new year, let us live for your kingdom. Fill our homes with your presence, prepare our hands for the harvest, and give us your witness on our lips. Amen.

नए वर्ष में धन्य जीवन: दस आशीषें जो हमें मसीह के साथ चलना सिखाती हैं

नया वर्ष एक नया पन्ना है। यह समय रुककर सोचने का है कि परमेश्वर ने हमें किस उद्देश्य के लिए बुलाया है। यीशु ने पहाड़ी उपदेश में जो "धन्य हैं" कहा, वह केवल भावनाओं की बात नहीं थी। वह उन लोगों की पहचान थी जो उसके राज्य में जीते हैं। आइए, इस नए वर्ष में इन दस आशीषों पर विचार करें।

1. धन्य हैं वे जो मछुआरे बन गए हैं।
सिर्फ यीशु के भक्त होना काफ़ी नहीं। वह हमें लोगों को मसीह की ओर खींच लाने वाले मछुआरे बनाना चाहता है। (मत्ती 4:19)

2. धन्य हैं वे जो खोई हुई भेड़ों को खोजते हैं।
जो लोग दूर भटक गए हैं, उन्हें ढूँढकर उद्धार तक ले आना हमारा काम है। यीशु स्वयं खोए हुओं को ढूँढने आए। (लूका 19:10; यूहन्ना 10:16)

3. धन्य हैं वे जो खेतों में बीज बोते हैं।
केवल रोटी कमाना पर्याप्त नहीं। जहाँ सुसमाचार नहीं पहुँचा, वहाँ बीज बोना और आत्माओं की फसल काटना हमारी बुलाहट है। (यूहन्ना 4:35; मत्ती 13:8)

4. धन्य हैं वे जो फलों से लदे हैं।
पत्तियाँ दिखावा हैं, फल जीवन का प्रमाण हैं। मसीह में बने रहने वाला जीवन ही फल देता है। (यूहन्ना 15:1-8)

5. धन्य हैं वे जो जीवित बलिदान बनते हैं।
उत्सव के गीत अच्छे हैं, पर परमेश्वर चाहता है कि हम अपना जीवन ही जीवित बलिदान के रूप में अर्पित करें। (1 पतरस 2:5; रोमियों 15:16)

6. धन्य हैं वे जो गुनगुने नहीं रहते।
हम राजकीय याजक हैं। जहाँ मसीह अब तक नहीं पहुँचा, वहाँ शिष्य बनाकर परमेश्वर का राज्य स्थापित करना हमारा सौभाग्य है। (1 पतरस 2:9; रोमियों 15:19-20)

7. धन्य हैं वे जो गवाही देने से नहीं डरते।
अपने परिवार, मित्रों और सहकर्मियों के सामने यीशु की गवाही देना कठिन हो सकता है, पर पवित्र आत्मा हमें सामर्थ्य देता है। (प्रेरितों 1:8)

8. धन्य हैं वे जिनके घर प्रार्थना के लिए खुले हैं।
परमेश्वर का घर सब जातियों के लिए प्रार्थना का घर होना चाहिए। हमारे घर भी ऐसे हों, जहाँ हर किसी के लिए जगह हो। (मरकुस 11:17)

9. धन्य हैं वे जो हर्ष से देते हैं।
जो लोग दूसरी जातियों में फसल काटने में लगे हैं, उनके लिए हर्ष से दिया गया दान परमेश्वर को प्रिय है। (2 कुरिन्थियों 9:6-7)

10. धन्य हैं वे जो शिष्य बनाते हैं।
केवल प्रचार करना काफ़ी नहीं। हमें शिष्य बनाना है, बपतिस्मा देना है, और सिखाना है कि वे भी दूसरों को शिष्य बनाएँ। यही सच्चा विस्तार है। (मत्ती 28:19-20; 2 तीमुथियुस 2:2)

इस नए वर्ष के लिए तीन काम

1. इस सप्ताह अपने घर में एक परिवार या व्यक्ति को भोजन या चाय पर बुलाएँ।
2. एक ऐसे रिश्तेदार, मित्र या सहकर्मी का नाम लिखें जिसके लिए आप रोज़ प्रार्थना करेंगे।
3. महीने में एक बार अपने घर में प्रार्थना सभा रखने पर विचार करें।

प्रार्थना,

हे प्रभु, नए वर्ष में हमें अपने राज्य के लिए जीने दे। हमारे घरों को अपनी उपस्थिति से भर दे, हमारे हाथों को फसल के लिए तैयार कर, और हमारे होंठों पर अपनी गवाही दे। आमीन।

Do you know that it is 2022 years since the Lord Jesus came as the Lamb of God to become a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins? He made an outrageous claim, “I am the way, the truth, and life. No one goes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) He is coming again soon to judge the quick and the dead (2 Timothy 4:1-2). Believing or not believing in him has eternal consequences. کیا آپ جانتے ہیں کہ خُداوند یسوع کو ہمارے گناہوں کی معافی کے لیے قربان ہونے کے لیے خُدا کے برّہ کے طور پر ظاہر ہوئے 2022 سال ہو چکے ہیں؟ اُس نے دعویٰ کیا کہ ’’راستہ، سچائی اور زندگی میں ہوں۔ کوئی بھی میرے ذریعے سے باپ کے پاس نہیں آتا‘‘ (یوحنا 14:6) وہ جلد ہی زندہ اور مُردوں کا فیصلہ کرنے کے لیے واپس آئے گا۔ (2 تیمتھیس۔ 4:1-2) آپ اس پر یقین رکھتے ہیں یا نہیں اس کا آپ کی ابدی زندگی پر اثر پڑتا ہے۔ سلام اور خداوند آپ کو خوش رکھے۔ نیا سال مبارک ہو۔
