पाप का दासत्व  सर्व व्यापक - स्वभाव मानव की सबसे भंयकर समस्या उसका पाप बन्धन है। मनुष्य देह में जन्में किसी भी प्राणी को इस दुष्ट पातक स्वभाव ने डंसने से नही छोड़ा। सन्त, साधु, सन्यासी, पंडित, नबी, पादरी या मौलवी, रहस्यवादी या फकीर! महाराजा या दास; धनपति या कंग्प्रल - सबके सब पापी की आक्रामक शक्ति के शिकार हुये है। प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य अपनी दैनिक प्रार्थना में परमपिता से यह विनय किया करते है, जैसे हमने अपने अपराधियों को क्षमा किया है, वैसे ही आप भी हमारे अपराधों को क्षमा कीजिए। इसी प्रकार वैष्णव ब्राम्हमण अपने गायत्री मन्त्रोच्चार के बाद प्रायः यह निम्न प्रार्थना अर्पित करते हैः  पापोहं पापकर्माहें पापात्मा पापसंभवः। त्राहिमाम् पुण्डरिकाक्षम् सर्व पाप हर हरे।। मैं तो एक पापी, पापकर्मी, परिपिष्ट तथा पाप में उत्पन्न हूँ। हे कमलनयन परमेश्वर, मुझे बचालो और सारे पापों से दूर करो।  पवित्र ग्रन्थ बाइबल ने कभी भी अथवा कहीं भी किसी कुलपति का चाहे वह आदम, इब्राहिम, मूसा, दाऊद, सुलेमान या प्रेरित पतरस व पौलुस हो पाप नहीं छिपाया है। हिन्दू धर्मग्रन्थों ने भी अपने देवताओं, ऋषियों अथवा म...
