Twelve Mandatory Commands of Jesus

 Twelve Mandatory Commands of Jesus

For Self-evaluation to see how obedient you are?

  1. Love God, love neighbour, love each other and love your enemy. (Luke 10:27, John 13:34,35; Matt. 5:44) If you claim to love Jesus – see the 12th command.
  2. Follow me and I will make you fishers of men. (Matt. 5:19) If you are a mature follower of Christ, then have you caught any two-legged fish so far.
  3. You shall be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8) Forget about the ends of the earth. Are you witnessing to the lost in and around you?
  4. Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into the harvest field. (Matt. 9:38; Luke 10:2) Are you praying for and sending and supporting labourers in the harvest field?
  5. Go and open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (Acts 26:18) Just like you take care of your biological children until they are mature and reproducing their children, you not only preach the gospel but disciple a new convert until he is mature and reproducing disciples. (2Tim. 2:2; Psalm 2:8)
  6. Cast out demons, heal the sick and preach the Kingdom of God. (Luke 9:1,2) Sign of a believer is that he can cast out demons and pray for the healing of the sick. Do you qualify to be a believer? (Mark 16:17-18)
  7. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptize, and teach them to obey all my commands. (Matt. 28:19,20) Have you made any disciples and baptized anyone from people of other faiths? Should you rather obey Jesus or man-made rules of your church that only the ordained pastors can do so? (1Pet. 2:5,9)
  8. I have chosen you to go and bring forth reproducing fruit. (John 15:8,16) A man shall be known (judged) by his fruit ‘saved souls”.  (Matt. 7:20; 16:25-27)
  9. I as your Lord and Rabbi have washed your feet – so must you wash each other’s feet. (John 13:13,14) Have you welcomed a new entrant into faith by washing his/her feet?
  10. The Lord’s Supper – breaking bread from house to house - a shared meal – eat what is laid before you in the house of peace (Luke 10:7,8; Acts 2:46,47; 1Cor. 11:20-23). Have you entertained any stranger lately who might be an angel in disguise? (Heb. 13:2)
  11. Give - not Tithe for the Temple but cheerfully for reaping the harvest. The less you sow the less you reap. The more you sow the more you reap. (Luke 6:38; 2 Cor. 9:6,7) How much are you investing on the laborers who are working in the harvest field where Christ is not known? (Rom. 10:13-15; 15:19,20)
  12. If you love me, you will obey my commands. (John 14:15)

Christianity is obedience based. As these commands are non-negotiable, less than 50% score means you are in the ICU. The only way out is repentance and course correction.
